Erin Finkelstein

Clarinet

Clarinetist Erin Finkelstein is in demand as an orchestral and chamber musician. She performs frequently with The Phoenix Symphony and Arizona Opera, and has been featured on the Phoenix Downtown Chamber Series. In the summer, Erin performs with the world-class Carmel Bach Festival. Prior to moving to Arizona, Erin performed regularly with most of the professional orchestras and opera companies in Northern California. She has participated in summer festivals at the National Orchestral Institute, Domaine Forget Festival, and the Bear Valley Festival.

As an advocate for chamber music, Erin has been involved in building local chamber ensembles wherever she has resided. As a member of Urban Nocturnes, she enjoys celebrating the repertoire combination provided with the unique instrumentation. Erin was clarinetist with the Mill Ave Chamber Players for 5 years and performed on two CD’s of woodwind music, including the riveting transcription of Shostakovich’s Eighth String Quartet. While in California and New York, she lead many chamber music projects, bringing classical music to new audiences and seasoned concert-goers alike.

As a passionate educator, Erin has held various positions as clarinet instructor, music lecturer and Feldenkrais Practitioner® at the University of the Pacific, California State University, Phoenix College, and Glendale Community College. Erin holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of the Pacific and Arizona State University and continued studies at Mannes College of Music in New York City under the tutelage of Dr. Patricia Shands, Dr. Robert Spring and David Krakauer. She studied the Feldenkrais Method® with Russell and Linda Delman.

Erin Finkelstein is a guild certified Feldenkrais Practitioner with 18 years’ experience in helping people to move, sense, feel and think with more ease and grace. Erin applies the musical skills of deep listening to her in-person Feldenkrais practice at Sound Movement Services LLC in midtown Phoenix, which encompasses helping and educating a wide range of people; from children with Cerebral Palsy, to professional Musicians, the aging population, and everyone in-between. She has been featured on many podcasts on topics ranging from musician’s health to brain injury. Erin is very active in the Feldenkrais Guild of North America, serving on the North American Training Accreditation Board.
